+ Do not (walk outside this area) 2023
Do not walk outside this area evokes the mask—not only that of traditional japanese theater or the commedia dell'arte, but also the themes of change, transformation, and the fluidity of identity through the portrayal of a single face.
Fanzine, 5 copies, 48 pages 575 x 410 mm
My face, painted by Pierre Petit, is first photographed and then filmed through a resin-made filter.
Inspired by phantasmagoria and virtual beauty filters, this project explores insecurity, idealization, and appearances.
Etymologically: "the art of making one's ghosts speak in public"—an 18th-century spectacle that involved animating static images and bringing them to life through a projection technique that simulated supernatural apparitions.
